A New Age Of Pipe Repair
Before CIPP, Pipe replacement and repair was a time-consuming, costly and disruptive process. However, now things have changed for the better! The end result is not only stronger, longer lasting and more durable, it’s also environmentally friendly. Perma-liner™ Industries has the solution that works, and we’re really elated to be able to provide the best products and services in the industry. Since 1999 we’ve offered a unique, alternative method that virtually eliminates the dig and replace method. Our patented CIPP Lining System is one stop shopping at its best!
Here’s what we do: The CIPP or Cured–in–Place Pipelining System is just how it sounds. The work takes place inside the old pipe in need of re-lining: a pipe within a pipe. With the use of high definition, closed circuit cameras, the pipe is analyzed for damage and the best method of rehabilitation. The ‘host’ pipe is precisely measured, in order for a liner to be cut to the specifications needed. The liner is then saturated with a resin that will form the new pipe inside of the old one. The liner material is then inverted into the pipe using air pressure. After a few other tasks are completed with the help of specialized equipment, the curing process begins- which takes only hours, not days. The pipe is then re- examined with the high definition camera to ensure a satisfactory result, adhering to quality control guidelines. And that’s all there is to it! One and Done!
Perma-Lateral Systems
The Perma-Lateral™ small diameter inversion system is the best-selling system in North America designed to rehabilitate pipes ranging in diameter from 2 inch to 8 inch. Perma-Lateral™ liners can be installed through clean-outs or open cut pipes, with only a single access point required and can rehabilitate up to 150 feet in a single installation. The liner itself can be cured ambiently in 3 hours or heat cured in as little as 20 minutes! The Perma-Lateral™ ambient cure resin can be custom formulated to meet any installer’s needs and for all working temperatures for a 3 hour cure time. Heat, through the use of Perma-Liner’s Stinger steam unit, can also be added ensuring a speedy cure.
Perma-Lateral Tear Away
As the name… Cured-In-Place-Pipe implies, this is a process that takes place within the actual pipes themselves, and in the vast majority of cases, requires little or no extensive and costly excavation.
Here’s how the CIPP (Cured-In-Place-Pipe) or Pipe Within A Pipe process works:
The pipeline designated for repair is investigated with closed circuit high definition cameras to assess the damage and determine the condition of the pipe for the best method of rehabilitation.
Before CIPP technology, this type of repair could only be performed by excavating the area above the pipe. This is a highly disruptive process, which thanks to Perma-Liner’s C-I-P-P Patented Lining systems, dig and replace has been virtually eliminated.
Measurements are taken with a sewer camera of the cleanout stack pipe, desired liner starting point and desired liner stopping point.
Our patented Scrim liner material and calibration tube is then marked and cut job site specific.
The liner material is inserted into the calibration tube to the desired pre-marked spot where the liner will be bonded to the calibration tubing using a special plastic bonding adhesive.
The liner material is then saturated with a proprietary blend of 100% solids epoxy resin that will ultimately form the new pipe inside of the damaged pipe.
Next, the calibration tube and saturated liner are loaded into the Perma-Lateral™ Inversion drum and the drum is positioned over the cleanout. The calibration tube and liner material are then introduced into the damaged pipe by using air pressure to invert both materials down the length of the repair.
Once the liner and calibration tube have completely inverted, the calibration tube is inflated to its desired holding pressure and will act as a bladder pressing the resin saturated liner against the host pipe for a designated amount of time. During this period, the chemical reaction will take place causing the liner to cure to its hardened state.
The calibration tube is removed by winding the material directly back into the inversion machine, leaving no mess, or waste. A post video is then taken for final inspection.
The result is a permanent, C-I-P-P lined repair that is stronger, longer lasting and more durable than the damaged and deteriorated pipe prior to being lined.
And all of this is achieved in a fraction of the time it would take to run a traditional dig and replace operation making Cured-In-Place-Pipe lining truly a time and money saving, as well as environmentally-friendly repair process.
