Sump Pump Installation and Repair in Schaumburg
Protecting Your Home From Flooding
An important part of almost every home's plumbing system in Schaumburg is the sump pump. Most people don't think about it as long as it's working properly. But if the sump pump stops working or breaks down, water damage can happen fast and cause serious problems in your home. At Advantage Plumbing, we understand how important storm water removal is. We carefully research every pump we offer and have been installing sump pump systems for years with great success. Our team uses the latest backup systems that can even call your home, send you a text, or email you if something isn't working right. If your sump pump is showing signs of wear or if you're unsure whether your current system is enough to protect your basement and belongings, give us a call for a full review of your home's storm water system.
What is a Sump Pump?
A sump pump is a pump placed at the bottom of a sump pit, usually installed in the lowest part of your basement or crawl space where it can work best. Water from the ground around your home's foundation flows into a drain system made up of perforated pipes placed at the base of the foundation. This water is directed into the sump pit. When the water level rises, a float switch turns the sump pump on, and it pumps the water away from your home to a storm drain, dry well, or retention pond. Most modern homes have sump pumps, but some older homes may need a sump pump system installed to help prevent basement flooding.
Sump Pump Installation
Sump pumps can be connected directly to your home's electrical system or simply plugged into a standard outlet. Most sump pumps come with a battery backup, so they keep working even during a power outage. This is important because power outages often happen during storms or heavy rain, exactly when you need your sump pump to protect your home from flooding.
If your power goes out for more than a few minutes, if you often lose power, or if your main sump pump stops working, a battery backup sump pump or a water-powered backup system can step in. Water-powered backups use your home's water pressure to pump water out of the sump pit. To learn more about which option is right for your home, get in touch with an Advantage Plumbing expert.
